(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:–Postdoc Automated Reasoning in Quantum Computing (0.8-1.0 FTE)

We are looking for individuals with an excellent academic record interested in the development of new quantum circuit compilation techniques and quantum algorithms based on classical automated reasoning. The project focuses on harnessing the strengths of classical heuristics in quantum computing. For instance, the classical conflict driven clause learning (CDCL) heuristic offers exponential advantages over other methods. Without such heuristics, the search for quantum supremacy in constraint solving will be impeded. The project therefore aims to quantize such classical heuristics. At the same time, it aims to leverage classical reasoning engines to development of novel solutions for quantum circuit optimization, quantum circuit synthesis and formal verification of quantum circuits.

(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:–Postdoctoral researcher in Supramolecular Chemistry

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the group of Dr. Sander J. Wezenberg at the Leiden Institute of Chemistry of the Faculty of Science. The candidate will develop and/or study stimuli-responsive synthetic molecular systems able to capture, release, and directionally transport ions. The project covers a variety of approaches ranging from organic synthesis to liposomal transport assays.

Applicants should have a PhD in Chemistry or a related field (or have submitted their thesis before the start date). Experience with stimuli-responsive materials, macrocyclic hosts and/or mechanically interlocked compounds would be advantageous but is not required. Effective communication skills to supervise and train junior researchers in the laboratory is a must. The candidate is encouraged to apply for independent fellowships that will support their future career development.

(03) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:–Postdoc History International Ageing Policies

This project envisions a broad evaluation of 20th century models of human development over the life course (ontogenesis, human constitution), including socialist and capitalist conceptions across both Eastern and Western Europe. It asks how these models of human life course were developed, including what stages of development are defined, and what ‘proper’ paths each model of development dictates along these stages. Taking into consideration the social and economic environments in which these models were developed, it further evaluates how ‘outliers’ – i.e., individuals differing from the median of human development because of age, disability, physical, or mental capacity – have been incorporated into or excluded from these different models. Finally, it asks how different models may have influenced each other over the course the 20th century and what influence these models – and their interactions – have had on conceptions and programmes of social welfare.

(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:–Postdoc Computational Modeling for Drug Safety Prediction

Do you have a passion to understand how biological networks are influenced by chemicals or drugs? Are you an expert in the development of computational models, with the application in mind of comparing such models to real-world biological data? As part of our enthusiastic and diverse team of mathematicians/ data scientists/ biologists you will employ computational dynamical modelling approaches in order to support drug safety prediction. Within our team at the Leiden Academic Centre for Drug Research (LACDR) we are looking to hire a postdoctoral researcher to develop such novel ways for drug safety prediction.

(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:–Postdoctoral researcher in: Evidence Synthesis (1.0 FTE)

The current project is premised by a pervasive, methodological challenge in the study of radicalisation: the validity and reliability of efforts to measure radicalisation continue to be of poorer quality than those found in other research areas. Not only does this inhibit the development of explanatory theories of radicalisation, but it hinders efforts to counter or prevent the phenomenon more broadly. To address this problem, the current project brings together subject-matter experts on radicalisation and counter-terrorism as well as methods experts in prescriptive and predictive data analysis and psychometric testing to contribute to two, Campbell Collaboration systematic reviews and meta-analyses on the topics of radicalisation measurement and school-based radicalisation prevention.

(06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:–A PostDoc (1fte) related to the EU Horizon project RESOURCE on simulating and analyzing the up-takin

We are looking for an open minded economic network analyst. Ideally you have experience with Input-Output analysis next to economic expertise. Furthermore you are already familiar with programming in Python or R.

The candidate will work on the project work-block 5.5 ‘ Impact Assessment’. Within the research analysis insights from earlier conducted environmental impact assessments (LCA) will serve as a basis and be transferred to highly detailed economic network data, represented by latest Input-Output databases. This is done to assess an overall, reasonable impact predictions. A final application of price adjustments, taking price elasticities and substation effects into account are possible and desired.

About Leiden University, Netherlands : Official Website

Leiden University (abbreviated as LEI;Dutch: Universiteit Leiden) is a public research university in Leiden, Netherlands. It was founded as a Protestant university in 1575 by William, Prince of Orange, making it the oldest institution of higher education in the Netherlands.

Known for its historic foundations and emphasis on the social sciences, the university came into particular prominence during the Dutch Golden Age, when scholars from around Europe were attracted to the Dutch Republic due to its climate of intellectual tolerance. During this time, Leiden became the home to individuals such as René Descartes, Rembrandt, Christiaan Huygens, Hugo Grotius, Baruch Spinoza, and Baron d’Holbach.

The university has seven academic faculties and over fifty subject departments, housing more than forty national and international research institutes. Its historical primary campus consists of buildings in multiple places in the college town of Leiden, while a second campus located in The Hague houses a liberal arts college (Leiden University College The Hague) and several of its faculties. It is a member of the Coimbra Group, the Europaeum, and a founding member of the League of European Research Universities.

The university has produced twenty-six Spinoza Prize Laureates and sixteen Nobel Laureates. Members of the Dutch royal family such as Queen Juliana, Queen Beatrix, and King Willem-Alexander are alumni, and ten prime ministers of the Netherlands including incumbent Mark Rutte. US President John Quincy Adams also studied at the university.
