(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:–POSTDOC IN THERMAL ENGINEERING (2024-224-05941)

Research areas will be within comprehensive CFD modelling of oxy-fuel combustion of biomass(or biomass/ coal co-firing) in a 30MW circulating fluidized bed(CFB) boiler, CFD validation with existing experimental data in the boiler, and then CFD-based virtual testing of this boiler for advancing oxy-fuel CFB technology(e.g., new gas-staging, oxygen-staging, oxy-steam combustion). It will be exciting to closely collaborate with highly competent partners across the EU on different oxy-combustion CCS technologies such as oxy-CFB, CLC, and oxy-MILD.

The successful applicant should have a PhD degree in thermal, mechanical, or the relevant field, and should have evidenced experience in advanced CFD modelling of turbulent, dense multiphase, reacting flows. Previous experience in CFB simulations and in use of Ansys Fluent is an advantage.

Postdoc  summary/title:–POSTDOC TO ETHNOGRAPHIC STUDY OF BODY AND WELL-BEING AMONG SCHOOL CHILDREN

We are excited to announce a postdoc within a new research project that examines how weight-related understandings and practices shape body images and well-being of school children. The main responsibilities of the successful candidate are initiating and conducting ethnographic fieldwork within peer-groups of school children. Furthermore, the candidate is responsible for organizing member reflection workshops with the children involved and communicating findings to scientific and public audiences. As part of the broader research project, the postdoc will also collaborate with a PhD scholar, whose go-along studies with children will span school, home and leisure settings.

The Postdoc position is part of the project”Association Participation among Immigrant Children: A Vehicle for Integration?” funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark. The project investigates how participation in associations such as football clubs, scout troops, role-playing groups, and choirs varies among children of immigrants from different social and ethnic backgrounds in Sweden, the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Denmark. Additionally, it examines how their participation affects their educational performance, social networks, and values.

The Postdoc will be responsible for conducting Work Package 2. This work package examines how participation in associations affects various aspects of immigrant children’s integration in Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, England, and Denmark. Key indicators of integration to be studied include educational performance, social networks, and values. The work package will employ advanced quantitative methods, such as panel data and instrumental variable estimators, to analyze data from the Children of Immigrants Longitudinal Study in Four European Countries(CILS-EU) and the Danish Citizenship Survey, combined with administrative register data
