(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:–Postdoctoral researcher in Employee Experience and Service Design

This postdoctoral researcher position is part of the HiFive research project in the Department of Design’s ENCORE (Engaging Co-Design) research group. HiFive is a Business Finland funded co-innovation project exploring meaningfulness in industrial work contexts to ensure smooth work and collaboration in hybrid human cyber-physical systems. The project consortium is comprised of three research partners (VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd., University of Jyväskylä, and Aalto University, School of Arts, Design and Architecture) and five companies including Konecranes, Elomatic, Proverse, AInsinöörit, and Tasowheel.

HiFive project studies human-centered future of work at partner companies with the aims of improving the wellbeing of industrial workers and the attractiveness and inclusiveness of industrial workplaces. The project investigates the utilization of novel technologies (e.g., artificial intelligence, robotics, virtual reality), the emergence of physical and virtual, and demographic evolution at industrial workplaces. In order to attract a skilled workforce, it is necessary to develop meaningful jobs that involve 1) pursuing a purpose, 2) social relationships, 3) exercising skills and self-development, 4) opportunities for self-esteem through recognition, and 5) a high level of autonomy. Therefore, the HiFive Vision statement is: “HiFive will design and create meaningful, enjoyable, and productive hybrid industrial workplaces for tomorrow”.

(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:–HIIT: Postdoctoral and Research Fellow positions

HIIT provides funding for two types of researchers: Research Fellows and Postdoctoral Fellows. These positions are meant to support the career development of excellent researchers who plan a career as a scientist.

HIIT Research Fellow

HIIT Research Fellow positions support the career development of excellent advanced researchers who already have some postdoctoral research experience. While HIIT Research Fellows have a designated supervisor at University of Helsinki or Aalto University, they are expected to develop their own research agenda and to gain the skills necessary to lead their own research group in the future. HIIT Research Fellows should strengthen Helsinki’s ICT research community either through collaboration or by linking ICT research with another scientific discipline. In either case, excellence and potential for impact are the primary criteria for HIIT Research Fellow funding. The contract period is up to five years in length.

HIIT Postdoctoral Fellow

HIIT Postdoctoral Fellow positions are intended for researchers who have recently completed their doctoral degrees, typically within the last three years. HIIT Postdoctoral Fellows are not hired to work on externally funded projects but are intended to support one or more of the aforementioned HIIT strategic focus areas. These positions provide opportunities for development as a researcher within a research area from one of the four departments conducting ICT research in Aalto University and University of Helsinki. The contract period is up to three years in length.

Deadline : August 11th, 2024

(06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:–Postdoctoral Researcher on Theory of Optical Control of Van der Waals Quantum Magnets and Multiferroics

We invite applications for a two-year postdoctoral position in the field of theoretical quantum materials, focused on optics in van der Waals magnets. The prospective postdoc will work on the theoretical fundamentals of controlling magnetic states of two-dimensional magnets using light. The project aims to drive ordered magnets to a quantum spin liquid regime and drive a non-collinear magnet to a multiferroic state, with the ultimate objective of achieving precise optical control over these magnetic states.

The project will be carried out in collaboration between the theory group of “Correlated Quantum Materials” (Prof. Jose Lado) and the experimental group of “Photonics” (Prof. Zhipei Sun) at Aalto University. The position will focus on theoretical and computational modeling of van der Waals heterostructures, aiming at phenomena that can be potentially realized at the group of Prof. Zhipei Sun at Aalto.
