This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to play a lead role in the study of organic carbon persistence in soil. This project aims to unravel how increasing concentrations of nitrogen-rich compounds in soils can potentially increase our ability to sequester soil organic carbon. This is significant because use of land for long-term agricultural production greatly reduces soil organic carbon stocks and releases carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas. Expected outcomes of this project include providing information that is urgently needed to develop predictive carbon models for effective policy-making and improved management. This project should provide substantial benefits, including fulfilling the carbon sequestration potential of Australia’s soils that would deliver positive economic outcomes as in farm-gate output and mitigation of climate change. The position offers an excellent opportunity to develop diverse research and analytical expertise, as well as to pursue broader personal and professional development through publications, student supervision, and service roles across the University.

A multi-skilled postdoctoral researcher is required for a 2-year fixed-term appointment, to work on the technology and engineering development of the data-driven and machine learning aided Discrete Element Method (DEM) modelling of shaft furnace process for the zero-emission ironmaking with hydrogen. You will focus on the ARC Linkage project and ARC Research Hub project which are recently fully executed with industrial partners.

 

The successful candidate is expected to show creativity, teamwork, independence, self-motivation, and project management skills to ensure the deliveries of project objectives. Experience in R&D projects and research in chemical and metallurgical engineering such as the data-driven and machine learning aided Discrete Element Method (DEM) modelling is highly desirable. This project involves new technology development for hydrogen ironmaking, which requires the candidate for a solid research experience with a combination of science and engineering acknowledges and is expected that the candidate can quickly learn it.

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Fellow with experience in neuroimaging, ideally with expertise in ultra-high field (7T) imaging. The primary purpose of this role is to coordinate and participate in research programs at the Queensland node of NIF, located at the Centre for Advanced Imaging (CAI) within the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) and the Herston Imaging Research Facility (HIRF).

 

The opportunity is open to an experienced Postdoctoral Fellow (Level A), Research Fellow (Level B) or a Senior Research Fellow (Level C). You will be expected to provide project planning and image analysis expertise on a collaborative and consultative basis to both local and external users of the NIF facilities. This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the ARC Laureate Program led by Professor Alpha Yap. The program’s overall goal is to understand how mechanical communication between cells supports the homeostasis and integrity of epithelial tissues. The team uses an interdisciplinary approach, working with national and international collaborators to combine experimental cell biology, optical microscopy, biophysical assays and physical theory. The successful applicant will undertake competitive research to characterize how tissue mechanics and mechanical signalling respond to homeostatic stresses, such as apoptosis, in epithelial tissues.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow to join the Yamauchi Group at AIBN, to engage in research to further their expertise and growing research profile in Materials Science, Chemistry and/or Nanotechnology. We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to study magmatic processes conducive to mineralisation in energy-critical metals, focusing on porphyry copper deposits in arc magmas. This role involves establishing mineralisation vectors based on the texture and composition of magmatic components, including plagioclase zoning, melt/fluid inclusions, and accessory minerals like apatite. A key focus is comparing plutonic and volcanic records.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to engage in research in a structural biology and structure-guided inhibitor design. The main area of study will involve the characterization of three-dimensional structures of protein complexes involved in signalling by TIR (Toll/interleukin-1 receptor) domains in the Toll-like receptor and related pathways, the key pathways contributing to inflammation and neurodegeneration, and evaluate inhibitors targeting these protein complexes as leads for anti-inflammatory therapeutics. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Research Officer to support a variety of projects in the social sciences research portfolio at our Gas & Energy Transition Research Centre. This includes the implementation of a leading practice framework for community-led monitoring and evaluation of social and environmental data in relation to onshore gas development in the Northern Territory.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to contribute to research on the conversion of carbon dioxide (CO₂) into valuable products using microbial fermentation. This project aims to expand the spectrum of CO₂-derived products by integrating anaerobic gas fermentation with aerobic chain extension of CO₂-derived C2 molecules. The primary focus is on the production of functionalized fatty acids for applications in polymer synthesis, the use as plasticizer, lubricants or fuels. You will work at the interface of microbial strain and bioprocess development.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Research Fellow to play a lead role in the study of ways to improve the retention and use of nitrogen (N) in summer and winter grain cropping systems in northeastern Australia. These projects are focussing on evaluating the performance of controlled release and stabilised N fertilisers and on quantifying greenhouse gas emissions from crop residues.
