Study molecular mechanisms accounting for development of acquired resistance to third generation EGFR inhibitors in the treatment of lung cancer with EGFR mutations and develop mechanism-driven therapeutic strategies for managing the challenge issue of the acquired resistance. Analysis of high-dimensional temporal data ubiquitously arising from practices such as patient monitoring, health tracking, and symptom management is challenging but also rewarding in terms of both meeting unmet needs in healthcare and advancing the state of the art in AI/ML algorithms.

Major research projects being pursued by the hiring lab include multimodality brain monitoring of patients with acute brain injuries in neurocritical care units, integration of data from electronic health record with physiological signals to develop predictive models, modeling/analysis of invasive neurophysiological signals from patients with acute brain injury (in particular strokes) and epilepsy, and analysis of data from wearable devices to detect cardiovascular such as atrial fibrillation and neurological conditions such as cognitive changes post strokes. Data encountered in various projects include physiological signals (ECG, EEG, ECoG, blood flow velocity, blood pressure, and intracranial pressure, and PPG), time series data from wearable sensors, clinical data (including clinical notes) from electronic health record systems, and MRI brain scans etc. We pursue this diverse set of applications by relying on the core expertise in algorithm and software development and a close collaboration with various domain experts across multiple institutions and disciplines.

The lab is particularly active in developing and validating foundation models for physiological signals to unlock novel physiological measurement capabilities and multimodality health data to form multiagent systems for next generation health AI applications.

Dr. Maud Mavigner is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and is seeking a highly motivated Post-doctoral Research Fellow to perform basic and translational research to investigate human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) persistence.. Her research focuses on developing strategies to cure HIV using the model of SIV infection of rhesus macaques.

The key obstacle to cure HIV infection is a reservoir of latently-infected memory CD4+ T cells that persist despite long-term antiretroviral therapy and is maintained though cellular proliferation. The objective of the proposed projects is to investigate the role of CD8+ T cells in HIV reservoir establishment and maintenance in infants.

The Department of Hematology and Oncology within Emory University’s School of Medicine is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to join Dr. Madhav Dhodapkar’s lab. Dr. Dhodapkar serves as the director of the Winship Center for Cancer Immunology and leader of the Cancer Immunology Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute. The lab employs state-of-the-art molecular and cellular biology approaches, including single cell tools and mouse models to better understand and harness the immune system against myeloma. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with flow cytometry and other immunologic techniques.
