Postdoc  summary/title:– Post Doctoral Fellow

A post-doctoral position is immediately available in the Division of Immunology at the Tulane National Primate Research Center, affiliated with the School of Medicine at Tulane University. Candidates will investigate the HIV-1/SIV reservoir as it relates to mechanisms of HIV-1 persistence. The overall research focus of the lab is to investigate the role persistent co-pathogens such as CMV in driving HIV-1 reservoir persistence. The lab explores these questions in nonhuman primate models of HIV-1 infection, and the candidate will spearhead a ~30 animal study to understand how the SIV reservoir evolves in the presence or absence of persistent co-pathogens. The candidate should be proficient in flow cytometry, tissue culture, and PCR-based measures of HIV-1/SIV persistence, including total and intact SIV DNA quantification by digital droplet PCR (ddPCR), and qualitative assays to assess HIV-1/SIV integration sites. A working knowledge of R and command-line processing tools is also needed. The candidate should be able to work independently under minimal supervision under biosafety level 2 conditions and maintain detailed experimental records. The postdoctoral fellow should also have some experience submitting jobs to a high-performance computing cluster. Finally, the postdoctoral candidate will assist in daily operational functions of the laboratory, and train, supervise and monitor the performance of lab technical staff and students, as required by the Principal Investigator.

(09) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:– Post Doctoral Fellow

Applicants are invited to apply for a postdoctoral position in Department of Pharmacology at Tulane University School of Medicine to conduct NIH-funded research on assessing the role of Trpv4 channels in regulating lymphatic vascular function in health and disease. The laboratory utilizes microdissection techniques, pressure myography, and confocal microscopy to assess the function of isolated and pressurized lymphatic vessels ex vivo; and high resolution, stereo fluorescence microscopy to assess lymphatic vascular function in vivo and in situ. The selected postdoctoral research fellow will be required to have demonstrated experience working with animals (i.e., mice and rats). The postdoctoral fellow will independently conduct experiments to understand the extent to which Trpv4 channel activity contributes to the overall function/dysfunction of collecting lymphatic vessels in healthy controls, as well as in mouse models of diet-induced obesity and metabolic syndrome. Although some training will be provided, the postdoctoral fellow will be expected to perform microdissection of lymphatic vessels from rodents, imaging of intracellular calcium activity, in vivo imaging of lymphatic contractile function, molecular assays (e.g., PCR, western blot, etc), and preparation of single-cell suspensions for single-cell RNA sequencing. The candidate should be able to collect, analyze, and interpret data, compose manuscripts for publication, write and submit grants, supervise and train students, help with lab maintenance and ordering of supplies, assist with teaching Medical Pharmacology Problem Based Learning, and help with animal colony management.

The Section of Endocrinology at the John W. Deming Department of Medicine, Tulane University School of Medicine is seeking talented and motivated applicants with training and experience in epidemiology, population health biostatistics, bioinformatics, or the equivalent to join the research lab led by Dr. Yilin Yoshida. Dr Yoshida is an Assistant professor of Medicine at Tulane.  Her research program is centered on sex/gender-based cardiometabolic epidemiology.  One of her major focuses is to investigate mechanisms underlying women’s excessive risk of vascular complications in diabetes and identify and test intervention targets to improve diabetes management in men and women. 

This is a full-time position with a 2-year service/training period with the possibility for yearly renewal dependent upon performance and continued funding.  Candidates with research experience in cardiometabolic epidemiology are strongly perferred.  The fellow’s time will be devoted to data analysis, manuscript preparation, grant application support, and career development.

A postdoctoral position is available investigating genetic/epigenetic control of cardiac and vascular senescence. We are seeking a postdoc with a strong background in molecular biology, imaging, animal work, and biochemistry. The postdoc will be responsible for projects involving cardiac fibrosis and senescence. Epigenetic regulation of fibrosis will also be a focus. The research in the lab is motivated by creating new systems and technologies and by educating others about the possibilities and opportunities of computer science.  The work leverages theory, data, and experiments to create novel algorithms, mechanisms, and systems that enable and support autonomous agents and/or humans to make better decisions both individually and in groups.  The goal of the lab is to advance the state of the art in algorithms and complexity; game theory and computational social choice; data analytics, data mining, and machine learning; and preference reasoning.  Current projects include building new algorithms and systems for reasoning with preferences and constraints; novel methods and mechanisms for individual and group decision making; integrating background knowledge into algorithms for decisions and recommendations; allocation and mechanism design; as well as studying the ethics and social ramifications of these systems in the real world.
