(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:–POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW – BERLINGUETTE GROUP (UBC VANCOUVER)

We are seeking postdocs to lead and participate in projects that are associated with:

  • The capture and conversion of reactive carbon solutions (bicarbonate-rich feedstocks) to useful carbon-containing products; and/or 
  • Electrochemical mineralization and CO2 storage. 

These roles provide an opportunity to conduct innovative research, mentor trainees, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers. Many projects within the Berlinguette Group also involve industrial partnerships. These positions will enable successful candidates to further hone important skills for a successful career in academia or industry.

(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:–POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW – BC CENTRE ON SUBSTANCE USE (BCCSU)

The Fellow will be expected to design and implement studies under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, while also contributing to existing studies. Focus will be on primarily quantitative research projects, including: (1) an administrative-linked cohort study evaluating injectable opioid agonist therapies in Vancouver, and (2) an evaluation of a health incentives intervention. This post will suit recent PhD graduates with strong research skills who are seeking to advance an academic career in public health and health services research. The Fellow will be responsible for preparing grant and fellowship applications, and analysing and writing up existing data, working under the direction of the Principal Investigator. The Fellow will play a role as needed in coordinating program activities, maintaining research records, and contributing to the management and analysis of data.

(03) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:–POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW – WELLINGTON LABORATORY

Fluid biomarkers can provide a detailed picture of neurological health and disease using relatively low-cost, accessible, objective, and scalable tools. There has been a rapid expanse of research into candidate blood-based biomarkers that show utility for the diagnosis and prognosis of neurological conditions. This position will focus on the statistical analysis for multiple projects involving large scale databases from various cohorts, including but not limited to traumatic or hypoxic brain injury, spinal cord injury, Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, Multiple Sclerosis and healthy aging. The postdoctoral fellow will oversee their own individual project, to be developed in collaboration between the supervisor and a successful candidate. They will also provide guidance to lab members for other projects.

(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:–POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW, ICORD AUTONOMIC LABORATORY

A position is open for a postdoctoral fellow with a PhD in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline, and a strong interest in neuroscience, cardiovascular and vascular biology. Interested candidates must be self-motivated and have at least two first-authored papers in peer-reviewed journals. Experience in spinal cord/peripheral nerve stimulation, bladder & bowel dysfunction, experimental animal research, immunocytochemistry, and/or histology is an asset. The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to perform experiments to determine the neuronal and molecular mechanisms underlying cardiovascular and autonomic (i.e., bladder, bowel, sexual, and cardiovascular) dysfunction following spinal cord injury. This involves in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro experiments along with extensive work involving rodent models of spinal cord injury. The fellow will also be expected to write scientific publications, apply for research funding, and present their work at institutional journal clubs and international conferences.

(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:–POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS IN ULTRASOUND IMAGING SYSTEM FOR SPINAL CORD REPAIR

Funded by the Government of Canada New Frontiers in Research Funds (NFRF), Mend the Gap project (https://mendthegap.ubc.ca/) addresses the challenge of repairing the spinal cord after injury. To overcome the challenges ahead, an international and highly interdisciplinary team was set up, with researchers from several fields (neuroscience, surgery, materials science, engineering) organized under several research themes. The two open positions are related to building an ultrasound system for biomedical imaging, using newly developed polymer CMUT (Capacitive Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducer) arrays. The system will be used for the real-time imaging of biomaterial injection into the spinal cord, to help for its repair.

Postdoc  summary/title:–POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER WITH RARE DECAY GROUP AT TRIUMF/UBC

TRIUMF and the University of British Columbia’s Department of Physics and Astronomy  are seeking applications from recent particle physics graduates interested in a Postdoctoral position with the Rare Decay Group. As the successful applicant, you will have an opportunity to participate in research related to studies of rare kaon and pion decays and searches for dark matter with the CERN NA62 experiment and the PSI PIONEER experiment.  Specifically, you will focus on, and contribute in a significant manner to simulations and data analysis, detector and electronics R&D, and experiment-related operations.
